Mexico is one of the largest exporters of tobacco and fine cigars in the world. Prices are generally reasonable, and quality is very good.
Mexico is gaining a reputation for high-quality, value-priced cigars. There have been a number of Mexican-made cigars that I have tried in recent months, and brands that I particularly like are manufactured by Matacan, Santa Clara, Te Amo, Ugarte, and Veracruz.
Mexican tobacco has long been used by a variety of manufacturers for binder and filler leaf (e.g., Macanudo, the world's most popular premium cigar, uses Mexican tobacco leaf for its binder tobacco.) That being said, there are a number of great cigar rollers from the east coast of Mexico that are now making world class cigars.
